Our Clinical Content Developer, Digital Products works directly with the Managing Editor of Digital Products within the Publications Team to develop and update all content (text, images, video/animation and workflow tools) on the eGuidelines+ platform, including content developed by nurses within the Nursing Practice and Nursing Education teams. The Clinical Content Developer will research, author and revise articles and other materials, keeping them consistent with the AORN Guidelines and other evidence-based practices for Perioperative Registered Nurses and other health care professionals that promote positive patient outcomes and safe practices. The Clinical Content Developer is responsible for creating materials that support the quick-reference needs of staff at eG+ facility customers. This work is informed by their understanding of clinical workflows and by gathering voice-of-the-customer (VOC) feedback from practicing clinicians and facilities. Additionally, the Clinical Content Developer is accountable for meeting all timelines, revenue targets, and expense budgets associated with the eGuidelines+ product. They will collaborate with the Nursing Education, Nursing Practice, Health Care Organizations (HCO), Experience Services (ES) and Marketing teams to identify and verify the needs of the perioperative team working in surgery and invasive procedure areas. This position will also be responsible for supporting, and serving as a backup, to the Managing Editor of Digital Products for all eG+ platform related tasks, including uploading xml content and troubleshooting any platform problems and working with vendors, as well as Sales, Marketing and ES teams to resolve issues.
AORN is based in Denver, CO. Our Clinical Content Developer, Digital Products will work remotely.
More about what you’ll get to do as our Clinical Content Developer, Digital Products:
- Collaborate with the Sr Director, AORN Publications and the Managing Editor, Digital Publications to develop content for the online eGuidelines+ product based on perioperative needs, trends, and feedback from customers.
- Organize and update content within the digital platform.
- Maintain consistency in tone, style, and branding across all content.
- Develop the annual editorial calendar and the longer-term product development roadmap to maximize sales and exceed annual product revenue budget.
- Establish and meet schedules related to eGuidelines+ content and features.
- Ensure that content updates are completed in alignment with the established revision schedule and that all materials are accurate, engaging, and consistent with AORN’s organizational standards and goals.
- Maintain current knowledge of the AORN Guidelines for Perioperative Practice and knowledge of trends in perioperative practice.
- Provide operational and technical support and serves as a backup to the Managing Editor of Digital Products, for all eG+ platform related tasks, including uploading xml content and troubleshooting any platform problems and working with vendors, as well as Sales, Marketing and ES teams to resolve platform issues.
- Work collaboratively with Nursing Practice, Nursing Education, HCO, Marketing, Experiences Services, IT and other appropriate departments for product development and launch, as well as customer support.
- Gather and use research to ensure content is evidence-based and relevant.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather insights and validate information.
- Function as a resource to perioperative nurses using AORN’s eGuidelines+ product.
- Monitor and solicit feedback from customers through one-on-one conversations, group focus groups, online surveys and other mechanisms regarding eGuidelines+ and make appropriate additions and adjustments as needed.
- Use feedback (e.g., surveys, interviews, analytics) to improve content effectiveness.
- Tailor content to meet the needs of specific audiences (e.g., clinicians, customers).
- Contribute ideas to the team for consideration, development, and potential implementation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Must Have’s to be our Clinical Content Developer, Digital Products:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience working in a perioperative clinical nursing environment, with at least one year in a role involving content development, clinical education, or the creation of educational or reference materials for perioperative nurses.
- Registered Nurse.
- Experience writing clear, engaging, and accurate content, with the ability to synthesize complex clinical information into accessible formats for diverse audiences.
- Experience working with digital tools and technology platforms.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in nursing or related nursing field.
- CNOR Certification.
- Experience with content development for digital platforms.
- Experience using AORN’s eGuidelines+.
- Experience working with a website content management system.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Remote work environment, using a computer, telephone and other office equipment daily. Ability to travel as needed to support departmental and Association functions.
