Job Summary

The Finished Carpentry Helper supports lead carpenter in general construction and residential remodeling projects. The primary focus is assisting with the preparation, staging, and installation of high-quality interior finishes, painting, and completing ad hoc tasks to ensure project efficiency.

Core Responsibilities

• Assist lead carpenter with measuring, cutting, and installing baseboards, window casings, crown molding, and interior doors.
• Prep, prime, and paint interior surfaces, including walls, trim, and doors, using brushes, rollers, and sprayers.
• Perform ad hoc tasks and general labor as required by the site supervisor to advance project completion.
• Unload and stage materials at the job site, handling items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Operate basic power tools (miter saws, table saws, nail guns, and 12-volt to 20-volt drills) under supervision.
• Measure materials with precision, aiming for accuracy within 1/16 of 1 inch.
• Prep surfaces for finishing by filling nail holes, sanding, and applying wood putty or caulk.
• Maintain a safe and organized workspace by sweeping, removing debris, and packing up tools at least 2 times per day.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of hand and power tools.

Requirements

Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in general construction, remodeling, or basic carpentry preferred.
• Ability to read a standard tape measure rapidly and accurately.
• Familiarity with standard carpentry hand tools, pneumatic equipment, and painting supplies.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to various job sites within a 30-mile radius of Morgantown.
• Physical stamina to stand, bend, kneel, and lift for 8 hours per day.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
• Background check required prior to start date.
