CHANGE Illinois & CHANGE Illinois Action Fund are seeking a passionate and dedicated Interim Executive Director to continue our mission to achieve an equitable democracy in Illinois as we transition into a new exciting phase for the organization and search for a new permanent Executive Director. 

CHANGE Illinois (the Coalition for Honest and New Government Ethics) and the CHANGE Illinois Action Fund seek an Executive Director who will lead the nonpartisan organization’s good government and voting rights initiatives and continue our mission to achieve an equitable democracy in Illinois as we transition into a new exciting phase for the organization and search for a new permanent Executive Director.

We champion equitable democracy, ethics and efficiency in government and elections in Illinois. Through people-powered listening, policy research, civic engagement and advocacy, CHANGE Illinois works to achieve an Illinois with ethical and efficient governments, including fair maps, competitive ballots and vibrant elections. 

Overview

The Interim Executive Director reports to the CHANGE Illinois & CHANGE Illinois Action Fund boards of directors and will work closely with our tight-knit team.

The successful candidate in this position will oversee a team of two full-time employees, one part-time employee, and assist the board of directors in preparing for and hiring a permanent Executive Director. A typical week for the Interim Executive Director may include preparing for and managing weekly team meetings, participating in a leadership capacity on coalition calls, meeting with the team individually to check in on progress on project and provide coaching, checking finances, preparing reports for the board of directors, ensuring bills and payroll are paid on time, meeting with donors and/or doing donor outreach, responding to press requests, drafting and editing external communications and more. 

Pay will be commensurate with experience, equivalent to an annual salary of $115,000 - $135,000. This is a temporary position until a permanent Executive Director is hired. We are fully remote, but convene as a team regularly.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have experience in:

• Collaborating with community leaders, legislators, lobbyists, government officials and organizational leaders
• Nonprofit management for 5+ years 
• Managing staff, budgets, and vendor relationships
• Managing multiple priorities simultaneously
• Working independently and taking initiative
• Maintaining donor, client, or community relationships
• Preparing the organization for the next permanent executive director
• Communications for internal and external stakeholders
