Primo Artists seeks a Publicist to join our team. The position reports to the VP of Public Relations.
We are looking for a proactive, capable and experienced public relations professional to provide impeccable service to our artists. The candidate must be well-organized and detail-oriented, exemplary in their communication skills, undaunted by challenges, and able to handle a robust workload in a fast-paced environment.
The role of Publicist is to execute the public relations campaigns for the artists on our Public Relations Roster and liaise with journalists all over the world. It is an ideal position for someone passionate about classical performing artists and dedicated to amplifying artists’ voices via the strategic art of media relations and effective communication. Developing trusted relationships is our priority, so an ideal Publicist aims to make classical music public relations their career and grow within the company.
Requirements
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drafting press releases and securing approvals from artists and presenters
- Drafting pitches and story ideas
- Forming long-term journalist relationships
- Monitoring artist media coverage
- Updating and disseminating artist biographies and program materials to presenters
- Coordinating public relations and marketing plans with artists, artist managers and presenters
CRITERIA
- 3-5 years professional work experience in related performing arts or communications fields
- Educated to degree level with previous experience of working with conductors, instrumentalists and composers
- Intelligent, efficient, highly-motivated, organized and able to work calmly and effectively under pressure
- Superb organizational and communication skills
- Knowledge of Constant Contact/Mailchimp, Website Software (Squarespace, WIX, WordPress, etc.), and graphic design (Photoshop, Canva) preferred.
- Existing journalist relationships, with experience managing press campaigns, a plus
- Responsiveness and intuition to anticipate and fulfill needs
- Impeccable attention to detail and mastery in handling and prioritizing a large workload
- Ability to evaluate different options quickly and thoroughly, be resourceful and follow through seamlessly
- Independence to work with limited direction and ambiguity
- High aptitude and willingness to learn plus trustworthiness, tact and discretion
- Strong technical understanding and aptitude to pick up tools and systems quickly
- Ability to work as part of a small operation with robust workload and to contribute to a supportive environment in the company
Salary: $55,000 plus benefits package
