Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool (Resource Pool) position at a Level 1 trauma hospital, requiring Epic proficiency and strong stepdown/med-surg skills across multiple specialty units.
Details
- Resource Pool position covering all Med/Surg, Stepdown, and Telemetry units within an acute care, Level 1 trauma hospital
- Units include Med/Surg, Stepdown, Neuro, Ortho, Trauma & General Surgery, Oncology (Surgical and Medical), Long-Term Antibiotic Infusion, and Epilepsy Monitoring (EMU)
- Each unit has up to 34 beds
- Patient ratios are 1:3 for Stepdown units and 1:6 for Med/Surg and Telemetry units
- Night shift, 12-hour shifts on a weekend nightshift cluster schedule (Fri/Sat/Sun or Sat/Sun/Mon), 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Epic EMR is used; experience is required
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active WV RN license or a Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current AHA BLS and AHA ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Strong, well-rounded clinical skills across Stepdown, Neuro, Ortho, Trauma, General Medicine, and Oncology required
- Epic EMR proficiency required
- Level 1 trauma experience preferred
- Travel nursing experience preferred
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Two supervisor/peer references required for consideration, including one supervisor reference from any permanent facility worked within the last 12 months
- Driver's license and copies of all certifications required for consideration
Additional Information
- Candidates must be well-rounded and capable of floating across a wide range of specialty units including Neuro, Ortho, Trauma, Oncology, and general Med/Surg/Stepdown
- Royal blue scrubs are required
- Any candidate who has previously worked at a WVU Medicine location (as a traveler or permanent staff) must have taken a minimum 2-year break before being eligible to apply
- Travelers are not permitted to work within the WVU system for longer than one cumulative year; once that threshold is reached, a 2-year break is required before returning
- All candidates interview directly with a unit manager
